A fast 2-0 start carried over into a win for the Buffalo Sabres, as they defeated the Arizona Coyotes 3-1 on Thursday night at KeyBank Center. Casey Mittelstadt, Jeff Skinner and Evan Rodrigues netted all three goals for the Sabres, while Carter Hutton turned away 25 shots to earn the victory.

Let's go inside the locker room to hear from Evan Rodrigues, Casey Mittelstadt, Carter Hutton, as well as head coach Phil Housley following the win:

Evan Rodrigues:

On his goal: "As soon as [Kuemper] got caught in between and lunged at the puck and as soon as I saw him stop, I knew I could beat him wide and since it was in a great spot, I let it rip."

On setting the tone: "We got off to a hot start in the first and then they took to us a little bit and started to get some chances, so it was nice to turn around and take it to them in the second, roll some shifts over and get some [offensive] zone time."

Casey Mittelstadt:

On his goal: "Sheary and I have been working a lot on this in practice with getting the quick ups and transition to getting chances on the rush so Sheary made a nice play by drilling him back and all I had to do was put it in."

On providing secondary scoring: "Eichel, Skinner and Reinhart do a great job with the endless amount of goals and plays and when we add a little depth to that element, it's definitely huge for us because it takes a little pressure off of them and it helps our team's confidence and keep going."

Carter Hutton:

On returning to the crease: "I really only missed one game, but feels like I missed a month. You never want to miss anytime, it's frustrating, so I just went out there and had fun to try and help the team win. I thought in the first period, I was a little antsy, I didn't really get a lot of work so I got antsy, but I thought I did a good job as the game went on, I got better."

On locking it down: "It all started with that penalty kill, at that time the game was within reach. Then we had that confidence once we had that three-one lead."

Phil Housley:

On key to victory: "We talked about playing a full-60 minutes, because I thought we let our foot off the gas in the second period against L.A. We could have protected our net a little better, but for the most part, we were right on our checks and that carried into the third period and I thought our execution up the ice was really good and that's why we got quality zone time.
