Pittsford, NY (WGR) - After pushing practice back over seven hours due to inclement weather, the Buffalo Bills finally hit the field on their second-to-last day of training camp at St. John Fisher College. When they did get to work, Josh Allen was, once again, the quarterback of the second-team offense. Allen has been consistently with the twos all week, while Nathan Peterman moved from the third-team on Monday to the first-team Tuesday, flopping positions with A.J. McCarron.

There’s no telling what it means for the quarterback rotation Friday night at Cleveland, but considering Allen‘s work all week with the second-team, it may be an indication he will work with that group against the Browns in the team’s second preseason game.

The rain was coming down hard early in the morning, so the team canceled their originally scheduled 8:45 a.m. practice outside and moved indoors for a walk-through. They then practiced at 4 p.m. outside and, for the first time under Sean McDermott, used the turf field on campus. McDermott has exclusively used the grass field in his two training camps in charge of the Bills, but with the rain making that field wet, he chose to stay off it and work on the synthetic surface.

Tight end Charles Clay, defensive tackle Marquavius Lewis, wide receivers Ray-Ray McCloud and Brandon Reilly, and defensive end Trent Murphy all sat out the session. The team did not provide any injury status updates on any player other than to say that Clay was receiving a veteran/maintenance day.

Both Russell Bodine and Ryan Groy split reps at center with the starting offense, as that competition continues, while wide receiver Zay Jones once again was with the starting offense.

The team holds one final training camp practice Wednesday morning at 8:45 a.m. before returning to Orchard Park fo the remainder of the season.
