Allen struggles, Bills get blanked by Packers, 22-0

The Bills fall to 1-3 on the season after getting shut out for the first time since 2008

After an exciting upset win last week against the Minnesota Vikings, the Buffalo Bills were sent back to the losing column after a 22-0 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The Bills fall to 1-3 on the season after getting shut out for the first time since December 28, 2008 against the New England Patriots in the final week of the season.

Josh Allen and the offense struggled from start to finish. The rookie quarterback went 16-of-33 for 151 yards and two interceptions. On the other side, Aaron Rodgers was solid for Green Bay, going 22-of-40 for 298 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

As with their other losses this season, the Bills started out poorly. Rodgers hooked up with Ty Montgomery for a 43-yard gain to set up a touchdown pass from Rodgers to Jimmy Graham from three yards out. Packers kicker Mason Crosby missed the extra point, leaving the score at 6-0 early on.

During the first quarter, former Packers safety Micah Hyde went down with a groin injury and was unable to return to the contest for the Bills. That meant Rafael Bush was tasked with filling Hyde's roll for the remainder of the game.

As the Bills' offense continued to struggle, the Packers tallied on another touchdown in the second quarter as they went nine plays to march down the field with Aaron Jones capping off the drive with a three-yard run to make it 13-0.

The Bills' defense tried breathing life into the game, getting an interception from Jordan Poyer to start a drive at midfield. However, the Bills were forced to punt and miss out on an opportunity created by the defense.

Allen and the Bills drove down the field with a two minute-drill, looking to get some points to end the half, but a desperate pass attempt from Allen towards the end zone after a blitz wound up being intercepted by rookie cornerback Jaire Alexander. The Packers took advantage of the turnover, needing only 47 seconds to get a 52-yard field goal from Crosby to end the half leading the Bills 16-0.

The Packers added another field goal coming out of the half to make it 19-0, and the Packers defense has continued to frustrate Allen. Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix picked off Allen on Buffalo's first drive of the third quarter, which was Allen's second turnover of the game.

Allen was forced into another turnover in the fourth quarter, fumbling after scrambling to avoid a sack. The Packers would end the scoring with another 52-yard field goal by Crosby to make it 22-0.

The Bills will now return home to Orchard Park as they prepare to host the Tennessee Titans (3-1) next Sunday at New Era Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. with John Murphy, Mark Kelso and Sal Capaccio on the call on WGR Sports Radio 550.
