Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - The Sabres open their Prospects Tournament tonight against New Jersey.

Alex Nylander is healthy enough to take part in these three games, and Rochester coach Chris Taylor has been impressed with the winger, “Seeing Alex Nylander, I thought he looked big, strong and a powerful skater.

“For me, he’s the biggest guy I saw, the maturity level just passing the puck and how he skates, I thought he did a great job today and he’s leading, he’s going to the front of the lines now, before he’d go second, third, maybe last because he wasn’t sure of himself and he’s another player that wants to stick in the NHL. I really liked how big and strong he’s gotten and his maturity level.”

One thing that Jason Botterill is trying to do is get rid of the players that were sketchy and not good influences. Players are now required to be courteous and Taylor said that’s no mistake with this group of youngsters, “The biggest difference is off the ice, these guys are quality humans, they’re great people and that’s why we brought them in first and foremost.”

Taylor was on the ice for the first time with Rasmus Dahlin. He said, “He’s unbelievable, he jumps in the plays, he’s headsy, every drill he works at, his passes are always on, he’s a different player.”

Dahlin has been looking forward to this tournament since June's development camp. Putting on the Sabres crest means something to him, “Oh yes, to put on the Buffalo Sabres jersey, it’s going to be huge.”

Dahlin is expecting big crowds for these games and he said he can’t wait to play in front of the fans of Buffalo.

It’s not just Dahlin. Casey Mittelstadt is considered the second best prospect in the NHL and Dahlin thinks there’s a lot of good young talent here, “You can just look at this prospect team, it’s a lot of great guys there, skilled guys, so it’s very good and fun to practice with all those guys.”

The Sabres practiced on Thursday and here were the lines:

Olofsson - Mittelstadt - Thompson

Oglevie - Asplund - Nylander

Pekar - Hancock - Coskey

Aquin - Powell - Cornel

Eiserman - Glotov - Peterson

Dahlin - Borgen

Guhle - Atwall

Pilut - Welsh

Bisson - Stephens

Hickey - Laaksonen
