Arizona State and North Dakota State advance in the NCAA Tournament

The Sun Devils and Bison advance to the Round of 64 at the NCAA Tournament

The final two First Four teams advanced in the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday night in Dayton, Ohio. The 11-seed Arizona State Sun Devils and the 16-seed North Dakota State Bison both kept their respective seasons alive with close victories.

The Bison defeated fellow 16-seed North Carolina Central in the first game of the evening, 78-74. Tyson Ward led the Bison with 23 points, and also tied for the team-high in rebounds with six, to go along with three assists. 

Larry McKnight Jr. and Raasean Davis led the Eagles with 20 points a piece in a losing effort. 

North Dakota State will face the No. 1 overall seed Duke Blue Devils on Friday, March 22 at 7:10 p.m. on CBS.

The University at Buffalo's first round opponent was finally confirmed following the end of the final First Four game on Thursday night. The Bulls will take on former UB head coach Bobby Hurley and the Sun Devils following their 74-65 win over 11-seed St. John's in the play-in round. 

The Sun Devils were out-scored in the second half, but were able to hang on to their 13-point halftime lead. 

Arizona State had only two players finish in double figures with freshman guard Luguentz Dort scoring a team-high 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Forward Zylan Cheatham ended the night second on the Sun Devils in points with 14, and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Shamorie Ponds played 39 of 40 minutes and dropped a game-high 25 points for St. John's in the losing effort. LJ Figueroa and and Justin Simon each logged 36 minutes for the Red Storm, scoring 19 and 10 points respectively.

UB and Arizona State will tip-off at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 22. The game will be televised on TNT and you can listen to the game on ESPN 1520.
