The Buffalo Bandits earned their fifth-straight win as they defeated the Rochester Knighthawks 16-9 on Friday night at Blue Cross Arena.

Following a closely played first half, the Bandits exploded for 10 goals in the final two quarters, while holding Rochester to just four. The victory gives Buffalo a win in the season series with Rochester 2-1. They won the first game at home 13-4 in early January, but were shell-shocked by the Knighthawks just three weeks later 18-13. It was the final regular season game between the Bandits and this Knighthawks franchise before they move to Halifax, Nova Scotia next season. Pegula Sports & Entertainment will own a new expansion Rochester franchise, that will also be called the Knighthawks, which starts play next season.

Dhane Smith led the Bandits with nine points (2G, 7A). Smith now has 599 points in his NLL career. Chase Fraser scored four goals in the second half, and added two assists. Shawn Evans finished with three goals and three assists. He leads the NLL with 69 points. Matt Vinc recorded 45 saves in his first win in Rochester since signing with the Bandits.

Buffalo is now 9-2, which ties their best 11-game stretch to start a season. The Bandits went 9-2 to start the 2003 season before finishing 10-6. They are now off until the weekend of March 8-9 when they play at Philadelphia on Friday, March 8 and then home against Georgia on March 9.
