Bills blast Miami 42-17, send Williams off on a high note

Josh Allen accounts for five total touchdowns, while Kyle Williams catches a ball in his final game with the Bills

December 30, 2018 - 1:43 pm

In Kyle Williams' final game with the Buffalo Bills, it was the play of high profile rookies Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds that stole the show.

Allen and Edmunds shined in the final game of the 2018 season for the Bills, as they blew out the Miami Dolphins 42-17 at New Era Field. Sunday marked the final game of Williams' 13-year NFL career after announcing his retirement on Friday.

While there wasn't a touchdown, the Bills' offense was able to get Williams another send-off. Williams reeled in his first career reception a nine-yard completion from Allen. Williams also added three tackles and a tackle for loss in his final game.

Allen shined on offense in Buffalo's finale, accounting for five total touchdowns. Allen was 17-of-26 passing for 224 yards and three touchdowns in the air, while leading the Bills in rushing, once again, with 95 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. LeSean McCoy ended the season with a trip to the end zone as well, with 26 yards on 10 carries. Chris Ivory added 91 all-purpose yards for Buffalo, while Zay Jones led all players in receiving, with 93 yards and two touchdowns on six catches.

Allen became only the fourth quarterback in the Super Bowl era, and the first in team history to finish the season as the team leader in both passing and rushing.

Buffalo's defense was not to be outdone in this game, as Edmunds led the defense with 12 tackles, a sack, and an interception. Trent Murphy and Jordan Phillips recovered fumbles for the Bills, and Buffalo also got an interception from Tre'Davious White before he left with a head injury. The Bills defense allowed just 225 yards to Miami, while collecting those four total turnovers and four sacks.

There were also some ejections in the third quarter of this game when Allen took a late hit from Miami linebacker and former Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso. Alonso's hit sparked a scuffle, which led to the ejections of Bills tackle Jordan Mills, Dolphins defensive end Robert Quinn and Alonso.

Buffalo finished the season with a 6-10 record, good for third in the AFC East.
