Bills blown out by the Bears, 41-9

Nathan Peterman struggles once again with just 189 yards passing and three interceptions

November 04, 2018 - 1:40 pm

It was another poor performance by the Buffalo Bills offense on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

The Bills fell to 2-7 on the 2018 season after a turnover-filled blowout loss to the Bears, 41-9 at New Era Field.

Nathan Peterman struggled once again, going 31-of-49 for 189 yards and three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown in the second quarter by Bears linebacker Leonard Floyd. In addition to those picks, Jason Croom fumbled to football after a catch, which Bears safety Eddie Jackson returned for 65-yards for a touchdown. With Chicago's two defensive touchdowns, the Bills offense was out-scored by another team's defense for the second straight week.

LeSean McCoy struggled once again, with 10 carries for only 10 yards. Chris Ivory had 36 yards on seven carries, while Peterman led the Bills in rushing with eight carries for 46 yards. Logan Thomas led all Bills' receivers with seven catches for 40 yards.

The Bills finally scored a touchdown for the first time in three games as Peterman snuck in a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. That touchdown run broke an 11-quarter drought without getting into the end zone.

The Bears didn't need much offense, only collecting 190 total yards. Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky threw for 135 yards, one touchdown and one interception to Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White on 12-of-20 passing. Chicago running back Jordan Howard led the Bears with 47 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, while rookie wide receiver Anthony Miller led the Bears with five catches for 49 yards.

Up next for the Bills is a trip to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on the New York Jets next Sunday afternoon. The Jets are 3-6 on the season after a 13-6 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Kickoff on Sunday is set for 1 p.m. and can be heard on WGR Sports Radio 550 with John Murphy, Mark Kelso and Sal Capaccio on the call.
