Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - On June 2, Micah Hyde will host a charity softball game at the downtown ballpark. Proceeds will go to his IMagINe for Youth Foundation. Hyde is one of those athletes that think it’s important to give back to the community, “It means a lot, every year we have our annual events that we put on here in Buffalo, the Back to School drive, we have Thanksgiving dinner for the kids and we also have a Christmas event.” Hyde added, “We’ll interact with the fans, you might see me up in the crowd to talk to some kids and throw some baseballs around.”

This is a softball game that has been being played for 13 years. Hyde played in it when he was with Green Bay, and now he wants to host it. The Bills safety said, “In my opinion the Bills Mafia is louder, prouder, more excited about their football than what they have a little bit up north, so I feel like these stands can get filled.”

Hyde loves playing and living in Western New York. He said, “Buffalo’s embraced me. I feel like leaving Green Bay it was on some weird terms, but as soon as I was able to meet the coaching staff and the people of Buffalo, they welcomed me, my wife and my family with open arms and we want to give back to the community as much as possible.”

Hyde predicted the score will be 22-10 for the defense. Hyde said, “I think we as a defense are going to smash the offense.” Zay Jones will play for the offense and he said, “He’s lying like a carpet.”

Josh Allen will be there playing for the offense, but Hyde isn’t worried, “It’s baseball, you need more than just one guy, so if Josh hits 10 bombs himself, that’s all they’re going to get.”

This is going to be a fun game, but when professional athletes get together, it gets serious as the game goes on, “That’s what always happens, the first couple of innings it’s fun and games and you feel out who’s good and who’s not, but then by the end of the game you’re telling guys to get out and putting others in to get some home runs.”

It was reveled on Wednesday that the Bills will be playing Thanksgiving Day in Dallas. Hyde is no stranger playing the Cowboys. He said, “I love playing in Dallas, I have so great memories playing in Dallas, so hopefully on Thanksgiving we can have another great memory.”

Hyde has played on Thanksgiving and it didn’t go well. In 2013, the Lions pasted the Packers 40-10. Hyde said, “I don’t want to talk about that one. It was over by halftime.”

In addition to Hyde, Allen and Jones, other Bills playing in this softball game so far are Jerry Hughes, Lorenzo Alexander, Tre White, Jordan Poyer, Pat DiMarco, Wyatt Teller, Matt Barkley, Levi Wallace and Dion Dawkins.

The Bisons aren’t only helping out with the ballpark, but tickets are available for this event through
