The Buffalo Bills made their second addition to the secondary this offseason, signing safety Maurice Alexander to a one-year deal on Friday. The team, however, lists Alexander as a linebacker even though he has played safety his entire career.

Originally a fourth round pick of the St. Louis Rams in the 2014 NFL Draft, Alexander spent his first four seasons with the organization before moving on to the Seattle Seahawks last year. He’s mainly been a backup safety and special teams performer through his five NFL seasons, but did start 14 games for the Los Angeles Rams in 2016.

At 6' 2" and 220-pounds, Alexander has lined up at both free and strong safety. Counting his special teams work, he’s collected 118 total tackles, including five for loss, and two sacks in 50 games played. He’s also intercepted two passes, both in 2016.
