Bills to start Allen against the Bengals

Josh Allen will start the "dress rehearsal" game this Sunday at New Era Field

August 20, 2018 - 6:25 pm

The Buffalo Bills waited until game day to name their starting quarterback for each of the first two preseason games. This week, ahead of the Week 3 preseason matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, the Bills didn't wait.

After Nathan Peterman and A.J. McCarron got starts in the first two weeks of the season, it will be rookie quarterback Josh Allen under center for the Bills to start Sunday's meeting with the Bengals at New Era Field.

Allen has played very well this preseason, going 18-for-32 for 176 yards and two touchdowns through the air. The third preseason game is usually known as the dress rehearsal for the regular season.

Peterman has also played very good in the preseason, going 17-of-20 for 232 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. McCarron started against the Browns on Friday, but left the game with a shoulder injury.

The Bills and Bengals kick things off on Sunday a 4 p.m. with coverage on WGR starting at 2 p.m.
