The Buffalo Bills' schedule for this season included 14 games at 1 p.m. on a Sunday, the Thanksgiving matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, and a "to be determined" against the New England Patriots in Week 16 in Foxboro.

That "to be determined" has now been determined as the Bills will go to New England on Saturday, December 21 for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff at Gillette Stadium.

The NFL announced two other games to be played on that Saturday in Week 16. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the Houston Texans at 1 p.m., while the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers will meet in the Saturday night time slot at 8:15 p.m.

The league was also considering moving the Detroit Lions at Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers matchups for that Saturday, but those games will take place on Sunday the 22nd.

This is the first time the Bills will play on a Saturday, that isn't Christmas Eve, since December 17, 2005 when the Bills lost a home matchup with the Broncos. Since then, the Bills have played three times on Christmas Eve Saturday, most recently in 2016 against the Miami Dolphins.

The likelihood that the Bills-Patriots matchup in Week 16 will mean anything to the division race is getting slimmer and slimmer. The Bills now trail the Patriots by two games, and a loss to the Cleveland Browns this past week doesn't inspire a whole lot of hope that the team will track them down.
