Bulls keep rolling, topping Western Michigan 84-74

U.B. remains undefeated in MAC play with a 6-0 record

January 20, 2018 - 8:47 am

The U.B. Bulls won their seventh game in a row, and improved to 6-0 in MAC play with an 84-74 win at Western Michigan on Friday night. The Bulls were up by just two points at the half, but went on a 17-3 run in the second half to pull away from the Broncos. C.J. Massinburg and Jeremy Harris led the way for the Bulls with 20 points each, while Nick Perkins added 18 points of his own to go along with a game-high nine rebounds.

Western Michigan was a tough task for U.B. as the Broncos were picked by many to win the MAC West in the preseason. The loss drops them to .500 in conference play this year, and into third place behind Toledo and Ball State. The Broncos did have a four-point lead early in the second half, and both teams exchanged the lead a couple times before the Bulls scored seven straight points and never surrendered the lead again. U.B. also topped Western Michigan in rebounds, points in the paint, fast break points, and bench points in the win.

It was a great balanced effort by the Bulls, who's 6-0 conference start is the best in school history.

The Bulls return home on Tuesday night to Alumni Arena to try to improve to 7-0 in conference play. They will face the 11-8 (2-4) Eastern Michigan Eagles for a 7 p.m. tip-off. For tickets, call the UB ticket office at 1-877-UB-THERE or go to If you can't make it to the game, you can listen to the action on our sister station, ESPN 1520!
