Canada continues to roll at the World Championship

(WGR 550) - Team Canada won its third straight game Thursday at the World Championship, beating France 5-2.

Things got a little dicey in the third period when France made it 3-2, but goals by Anthony Mantha Det. and Mark Stone Veg. put the game away.

With his two goals, Mantha has five goals and four assists in his last three games to rank third in tournament scoring. Russia’s Nikita Kucherov T.B. and Sweden’s Will Nylander Tor. are tied for the lead with 10 points each.

Sabres forward Sam Reinhart got one assist in this game, giving him two assists in his last two games. It came from really good work along the back wall where he out battled two French players to work the puck to Sean Couturier Phil.. The Flyers center made a slick pass to Anthony Cirelli T.B. in front for the goal. Reinhart played 15:50 in this game and had seven shots on goal.

Darnell Nurse Edm. had Canada’s other goal. Jonathan Marchessault Veg. had two assists while his Golden Knights teammate Shea Theodore had one. Both Vegas players have a point in all four of Canada’s games.

Carter Hart Phil. is now 2-0-0. He made 21 saves on the game.

Germany is 4-0-0 in this tournament for 12 points, but the Germans haven’t played Finland, Canada or the United States yet.

Finland is in second in Group A with 10 points. Canada has nine points, Team USA has eight, Denmark has five, Slovakia has three points while France has one and Great Britain has none.

On Saturday, Team USA plays Denmark, while Team Canada goes up against Germany.
