Jack Eichel's second-career hat-trick, turned four-goal effort, helped vault the Buffalo Sabres back into the win column with a 4-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night at KeyBank Center. The win also helped the Sabres snap a season-high six-game losing streak for the team's first win in the month of November.

Linus Ullmark recorded his first victory in goal for the blue and gold since a 2-0 shutout back on October 25 against the Detroit Red Wings, making 21 saves on 23 shots faced.

Neither one of these Atlantic Division foes found the back of the net after one period of play. Both teams had chances on respective power plays, but neither struck gold on their man advantages.

Buffalo did have the advantage in the opening period, out-shooting the Senators by a 13-5 total.

The Sabres finally broke the scoreless tie just 88-seconds into the second period with Eichel's first goal of the night. As Sam Reinhart skated into the neutral zone, he absorbed a hit against the boards while being able to drop a pass off to Eichel. The captain flew up the right side of the ice, protected the puck from the Ottawa defender, and beat Anderson short-side past his glove-hand for the 1-0 lead. It was Eichel's ninth goal of the season, and second in three games.

The Senators capitalized on the power play less than five minutes later to tie the hockey game at 1-1. Just seconds after defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen escaped the penalty box following a 5-on-3 man advantage for Ottawa, forward Anthony Duclair was able to one-time a shot past Ullmark with defenseman Henri Jokiharju still in the box for a slash.

Eichel gave the Sabres the 2-1 lead with his second goal of the night just three-and-a-half minutes later as he accepted a pass from Victor Olofsson just inside the Senators' blue line. The captain then fought through the Ottawa defense and fired a shot from the high slot over the glove hand of Anderson for his 10th goal of the year.

That score would hold through the rest of the period as Buffalo got out-shot in the period 9-6, but held the overall advantage 19-14.

The 2-1 Buffalo advantage only lasted 2:01 into the third period as former Sabres forward Tyler Ennis deflected a point shot from defenseman Ron Hainsey past Ullmark and knotted the game at 2-2. For Ennis, it was his second goal in as many nights as he also scored on Friday night in a 2-1 home win against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Then, with 7:47 gone in the third period, Eichel completed the hat-trick to give Buffalo a 3-2 lead. After Jeff Skinner chipped the puck off the boards in the Buffalo zone, Eichel collected it and quickly skated into the Ottawa end. This time, his wrist shot beat Anderson on the blocker side to give Eichel his first hat-trick since December 15, 2017 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

It was also the team's first hat-trick since Sam Reinhart on February 23, 2019 against the Washington Capitals.

Eichel sealed the game with just 13.7-seconds remaining and Anderson on the bench for Ottawa with the extra attacker on the ice. The Sabres captain gathered a loose puck just outside the red line at center ice and fired a high shot that found the top of the empty net for his fourth goal of the contest.
