Rochester Americans defenseman Brendan Guhle is heading to the AHL All-Star Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The American Hockey League announced on Friday that Guhle was added to the North Division roster for this weekend's festivities. He will replace fellow teammate Zach Redmond, who will miss out on the event with a lower-body suffered on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old's season got off to a slow start, but has turned his play around over the past month and a half. In 37 games this season, Guhle has scored four goals and registered 19 points. This will be Guhle's first All-Star nod of his professional career.

Redmond was an original selection to the AHL All-Star Game, but will be forced to miss the event after he suffered a lower-body injury on Wednesday in a home matchup with the Binghamton Devils. Amerks assistant coach Gord Dineen said on Friday that Redmond is going to "miss some time" due to his injury.

The 30-year-old defenseman set an Amerks franchise record for goals by a defenseman in a season with his 19th goal scored on Wednesday. Redmond's 19 goals leads the Amerks in goal scoring this season, and also leads the AHL for goals by a defenseman.

Before the injury, Redmond was on pace to break John Slaney's AHL record of 30 goals by a defenseman in a season set back in the 1999-2000 season. He was set to play in all 76 games this season, while scoring 35 goals and picking up 72 points.

Redmond also leads the Amerks in overall scoring with 39 points, which is a three point advantage over forward C.J. Smith.

The Amerks' other All-Star selection was defenseman Lawrence Pilut, who scored three goals and registered 22 points in 16 games in Rochester before getting a call up from the Buffalo Sabres in November. He was made unavailable for the event as he will stick around with the Sabres moving forward.

Pilut was replaced on the North Division roster by Binghamton Senators defenseman Christian Wolanin.

The AHL All-Star Classic gets started on Sunday with the skills competition, followed by the All-Star Game on Monday.
