The New York Islanders cleaned house on Tuesday with the dismissal of both general manager Garth Snow and head coach Doug Weight. Lou Lamoriello will take over the duties as general manager for the Islanders as the team searches for a new head coach.

However, with the dismissals of the general manager and head coach, all eyes now turn to the status of soon-to-be unrestricted free agent center John Tavares. A tweet from Greg Brady of Sportsnet 590 AM in Toronto seems to paint a picture that the 27-year-old is likely hitting the open market:

Tavares would easily become the most sought after free agent to hit the open market since Brad Richards in 2011. The NHL was close to seeing Steven Stamkos hit free agency in the summer of 2016, but he re-signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning. It's still believed in league circles that Tavares will become a free agent, but there are varying degrees of the odds a team like the Buffalo Sabres can land him.

TSN's Darren Dreger spoke with The Instigators back on May 18th about the chances of Tavares signing with the Sabres, as well as the impact Tavares would have in the NHL, including if Buffalo wishes to trade center Ryan O'Reilly:
