Jets trade up for third overall pick in NFL Draft

The Indianapolis Colts receive four draft picks in return from New York

If the Buffalo Bills intend to move up in the 2018 NFL Draft for a franchise quarterback, the New York Jets made their journey a bit more difficult.

The Jets pulled off a trade with the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, leaping from the sixth overall pick in April's draft to the third overall pick. The move puts New York in position to select one of the top quarterbacks on the draft board.

Earlier in the week, the Jets re-signed last year's starting quarterback Josh McCown, and also signed free agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

In exchange for the third overall pick, the Jets send the Colts the sixth overall pick, as well as two second round picks (37th and 49th overall). Indianapolis also gets New York's 2019 second round pick.

The top-12 picks in the 2018 NFL Draft now look like this:

  1. Cleveland Browns
  2. New York Giants
  3. New York Jets (from Indianapolis Colts)
  4. Cleveland Browns (from Houston Texans)
  5. Denver Broncos
  6. Indianapolis Colts (from New York Jets)
  7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  8. Chicago Bears
  9. San Francisco 49ers
  10.  Oakland Raiders
  11. Miami Dolphins
  12. Buffalo Bills (from Cincinnati Bengals)
