(WGR 550) - The trading has begun in the National Hockey League as Washington traded defensemen with Philadelphia to help with their salary cap.

Matt Niskanen goes to the Flyers for Radko Gudas. Niskanen is $5.75 million against the cap and he has two more years remaining on his deal.

Gudas makes $3.35 million against the cap and he has one year left. Pierre LeBrun reported that the Flyers will retain 30% of his salary next season.

Niskanen is 32-years-old and has had stops in Dallas and Pittsburgh too. He’s played 881 NHL games.

Gudas has been accused of being the dirtiest player in the NHL and is 29. He’s played 416 NHL games with the Flyers and Tampa Bay.
