From the Locker Room: Sabres-Bruins

Marco Scandella, Kyle Okposo, Chad Johnson, Evan Rodrigues and Phil Housley address the media after the 4-1 win at home against Boston on Sunday

The Buffalo Sabres culminated their action-filled weekend with a 4-1 afternoon home win against the Boston Bruins and their newest acquisition, veteran forward Rick Nash.

Buffalo kept the prolific Boston offense at bay for the majority of the game. For the Sabres, it was the likes of Benoit Pouliot, Kyle Okposo, Evan Rodrigues and Marco Scandella netting goals in the victorious effort.

Go inside the locker room to hear from Marco Scandella, Kyle Okposo, Chad Johnson, Evan Rodrigues and Phil Housley following the triumph.

Marco Scandella:

His goal binge: "Law of averages. Keep shooting the puck on net."

Full-fledged effort: "The effort we gave tonight was a full 60 minutes worth. We stuck to our gameplan throughout, and it was a great result. That's the recipe to success."

Kyle Okposo:

His plan for tomorrow's off day for the Trade Deadline: "I'm a hockey nerd. I'll be reading that stuff most of the day. It's an exciting day for the league, but it's always tough to see teammates and friends go. It is a business at the end of the day."

Faith in Jason Botterill: "He's a smart individual. I believe that he'll do a great job with tomorrow's task at hand."

Chad Johnson:

Monday obligations: "My wife and I are having a baby, who's due in May. Tomorrow she's having an ultrasound. That'll keep me occupied for most of tomorrow, but I'll surely check into TSN and such occasionally."

Pull thine weight, and his recent success: "My game and the results that I get are very much influenced by how the team plays. I have to pull my weight just as much as they have to pull theirs for us as a whole to find success."

Evan Rodrigues:

Ties to the Boston area: "I skate in Boston in the summer and live there. I know a few guys on the team and it's great to skate against them and especially beat them."

Key to Bruin-slaying: "We had success [against Boston] recently because we've been playing a full 60 minutes against them and the entire 19-player roster has been on the same page."

Phil Housley:

Team collaboration: "Everybody did their part tonight. Guys checked well. They were competing tonight, and had meaningful strides. From top to bottom it was a real solid effort. It goes to show you that when everybody's focused, prepared and ready to play, we're a different hockey team."

Recalling when Boston hemmed Buffalo in their own D-zone: "I wish they would've kept icing the puck, but it goes to show that they dug down. With the fatigue factor and your hands going eventually, they somehow found a way to battle through it. That was a huge push by Boston. The guys found a way to get through it."

Deadline day: "There's a lot of things that go into it. I'm sure everybody will be watching the television and being vigilant to what's going on. It's a tough time because you never know the situation that's going to occur. My focus is enjoying the game tonight and we'll see what happens tomorrow."
