The Buffalo Sabres battled back late in the third period to steal two points from the Vancouver Canucks. Despite Carter Hutton being pulled late, Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart were able to find two quick goals to send the game to overtime. After an exciting overtime, the two teams advanced to a shootout where Jack Eichel and Casey Mittelstadt scored for Buffalo, while Hutton turned away two Vancouver shooters to clinch the win.

Hutton was able to bounce back from a shaky end to the second period to make 36 saves on 39 shots. Jacob Markstrom had a strong game in goal for Vancouver with 34 saves on 37 shots. Loui Eriksson had a goal and assist to lead the way for the Canucks.

Go inside the locker room to hear Eichel, Reinhart, Mittelstadt, Skinner, Nathan Beaulieu, and Phil Housley following the win:

Jeff Skinner:

On facing adversity: "I think you're going to face adversity throughout the year... things aren't going to go your way, you're going to have bad nights and tonight wasn't one of our best nights but we found a way to get two points and move forward."

On the slow start: "We didn't have a great start... It's a good response by everyone and getting those two late goals was a big point going into OT, and the PK did a great job at the end of regulation and again in OT getting two big kills."

Casey Mittelstadt:

On the pressure of shootouts: "If I'm being honest that doesn't make me nervous, I like doing that. Once you touch the puck and get going it's just a breakaway."

On sticking with it: "In the third we came out ready to go and we kinda took it to them, but we stayed on them and got those two goals and the big extra point."

Nathan Beaulieu:

On the atmosphere: "It was great, they've obviously had a tough couple of years here... it's nice to give them a reason to get out of their seat."

On being resilient: "I think we just played on our toes, last year I found as a group we got rattled easily... It's kinda more now going after teams and we have the talent to do it."

Sam Reinhart:

On sticking with it: "I think everyone stuck with it offensively and defensively late in the game, and everyone is a big part of this win.

On being in the game: "It was kind of an up and down game and everyone stuck with it late... we always felt like we were in the game and that's changed this year."

Jack Eichel:

On sticking with it: "You don't want to put yourself in a hole, I thought it was great the way we bounced back and found a way to win at the end of the game."

On shootouts: "I haven't had the best luck with shootouts so I figured I'd try to keep it simple and just shoot it and it was really good to see that go in."

Phil Housley:

On fighting back: "Our guys have a belief that they can come back at any point in the game."

On the game as a whole: "It was one of those games that you could easily let that one get away and slip, but our guys dug in deep."
