The Buffalo Sabres' road losing streak reached 12 games on Monday as they were defeated by the New Jersey Devils, 3-1 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Sam Reinhart scored the only goal for the Sabres; a shot from the neutral zone that eluded Devils netminder Cory Schneider. It was Reinhart's 20th goal of the year, which is the third time in four seasons he has reached that mark.

Let's head inside the locker room to see what Evan Rodrigues, Linus Ullmark, Reinhart and Phil Housley said following the loss.

Evan Rodrigues:

On his goalie interference: "Thought I was outside the crease. Their guy makes some contact with me and pushes me back into the goalie. I didn't get a good look at it aside from the jumbotron, so that's one I want to take another look at."

Gameplan: "We put a focus on getting to the front of the net. I thought we did well on it tonight. Just need one more bounce to go our way in this one."

Sour taste in the mouth: "It's not a good feeling. We did things right and limited their chances. We did everything we wanted to except get the puck in the net. That's just how things have been going these days."

Linus Ullmark:

All relative: "I don't think it feels worse if you play a good game and you lose. It feels worse if you go out there and not play the game you set out to play."

Defensive effort much better: "We out-shot them, we out-chanced them. There were no odd-man rushes against, and we kept it tight. Overall, it was a better defensive effort than in previous games."

Sam Reinhart:

On his goal: "I was trying to throw a bouncer out there at the end of a shift. Fortunately got a lucky bounce."

Good effort, tough result: "Thought we played the right way. It might be a different frustration with the result we got, but it's frustration for sure."

Roll some good showings into 2019-20: "We can start getting more results with the way we played tonight. Internally, that can lead into next year. That's our focus for these next seven games."

Phil Housley:

Played right, couldn't get that next tally: "We had opportunities and we had chances all night. We just couldn't find that next goal. We have to continue to play this way, it will lead to results."

On Pilut's play: "I thought he played terrific. Had very good poise with the puck and helped create a lot of rushes out of our own zone."
