Fueled by a pair of goals from Jack Eichel, the Buffalo Sabres cruised to a 4-2 win over the visiting Vegas Golden Knights. Buffalo broke out three goals in the second period alone, coming on their first three shots of the period. In the process, the Sabres pushed their season record to 2-1, marking the first time since January of 2013 that the team has been above .500.

Let's go inside the locker room to hear from Marco Scandella, Jason Pominville, Eichel and Phil Housley after the pivotal victory.

Marco Scandella:

On his goal: "Shoot the puck, good things happen. Felt like it was a collective great effort tonight. There was a new energy around the stadium and in the locker room."

Offseason acquisitions: "I feel like our team got a lot faster. We built this team in camp and now it's paying dividends in the season."

The feeling's changed: "It wasn't easy last year, but we learned from it and have built since then."

Jason Pominville:

Vibes: "Everyone was here early before camp and training in the city. The atmosphere is different in and around the rink. First few games have been good, but we have to keep pushing to get even better."

On his line's play: "We feed off each other well. We enjoy playing with each other. We obviously scored one, but we defended hard as well."

Jack Eichel:

Kick-started: "I thought that powerplay goal really got our line going. It's early in the year and you're trying to find any sign of chemistry that you can."

On special teams play: "Our penalty kill has been getting better and better. That goes for all of our special teams play."

Building towards the end-goal: "I think we're coming together as a group. We're not a finished product by any means, but you can see the desperation and togetherness we're playing with these last few games. There's a lot of things that we know we can clean up, but when you're winning games while not playing your best it's a good sign."

Phil Housley:

Major key: "Our success started with our shot mentality today. Credit to them for staying with it."

On Eichel's maturity: "He's doing the right things. He's leading by example and making smart decisions with the puck. It's great to see him doing well now after trying to do too much on opening night."

Keep striving for more: "These results are great for our confidence but we can't settle. We've still got some good teams coming up on the schedule."
