The Buffalo Sabres had their 10-game winning streak snapped by the Tampa Bay Lightning after a 5-4 loss on Thursday night at Amalie Arena. There were five lead changes and the game never was further than a one-goal lead for either team.

The Sabres got two goals from Sam Reinhart in the loss, as well as tallies from Zemgus Girgensons and Tage Thompson. In goal, Carter Hutton made 32 saves on 37 shots faced in the losing effort.

Go inside the locker room to see what Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, Kyle Okposo, Zemgus Girgensons and Phil Housley following the streak-snapping loss:

Jack Eichel:

On the tough game with Tampa Bay: "Not much time on the power play, they sting you a couple times. I thought it was great compete by us, just trying to make it a game. Unfortunately, they were able to get the late one but I thought it was a great stretch by us. Ten games in a row is pretty good, we just come back to work tomorrow, we've got a huge game, another divisional team."

On what the winning streak did for the locker room: "For one, it shows that we can win every night we go out there and I think that should be our mindset, no matter what. We're going out there to play the best team in the league at home, whatever it may be. We should expect to win every night we go on the ice and I think that's kind of the confidence you build through a winning streak like that. We built some comradery and some chemistry and... that never quit effort. You saw it again tonight, obviously we came up short, but did a lot of good things but need to find a way to get two points tomorrow night."

Sam Reinhart:

On the intensity between the teams in this game: "It's a division rivalry and we're both at the top, we knew that coming in and you saw their jump that they had early on. Unfortunately it took us a little bit to match it, but I loved our compete later. Those are the fun games to be a part of, it's unfortunate we couldn't get one late to extend it a little bit longer."

Kyle Okposo:

On the play of Eichel and Reinhart: "They've been great. Obviously Sammy gets a couple tonight, great play by Jack on the second one, and I thought they were good tonight. Jack had his feet going tonight and he's so dangerous and I thought he was really moving tonight. He's special."

Zemgus Girgensons:

On the team playing a simpler game:  "I just don't think we managed the puck that well, the score was tight but we gave them too many opportunities to score and they're such a skilled team that they'll put them in so we have to be a little more simple."

Phil Housley:

On the test the Lightning roster brings to the Sabres: "It was a really good challenge for us against a healthy team, a very good team and I just thought in the first period we didn't execute very well. And you can tell about our starts in the D-zone, a lot of faceoffs we didn't execute that well."

On the status of Jake McCabe, who left the game early in the second period: "When you lose a player like that, it's tough to fill that position when he gives us quality minutes. I haven't spoken to the trainers, I'll know more about that tomorrow."

On other teams bringing their A-game against the Sabres: "They're going to be ready for us, they're going to look at our record, they're going to look at the streak that we had, being a top team right now. They're going to be ready to play us, so we've got to take that in consideration, but I think it's a great challenge. We should embrace that and look forward to seeing teams give us their best game."
