The Buffalo Sabres got a point, but their losing streak still reached four games as they were dropped in shootout fashion, 2-1 by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night at Amalie Arena.

Carter Hutton was a rock in net all night for Buffalo with 39 saves, but Tampa Bay was able to sneak two goals past him in three shootout rounds. The Sabres were unable to solve Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, as they were denied on their two shot attempts in the shootout. Rasmus Dahlin potted the lone goal in regulation for Buffalo.

Let's head inside the locker room to see what Dahlin, Hutton, Evan Rodrigues and Phil Housley said after the loss:

Rasmus Dahlin:

On the effort: "It sucks to lose, but we got one point and some of our confidence back."

Effort continued: "Overall, the whole team played really good. We played strong everywhere and our confidence was great all game."

Carter Hutton:

Bringing a strong effort into enemy territory: "Just tried to battle. They're a good, skilled team. Goes to a shootout, tough loss, have to move on."

Point on the road against the NHL's best: "It's a big point against a really good hockey team on their home ice. Obviously want to get that second point, but now get to head home and get back on task here."

Evan Rodrigues:

Getting back to their game: "We played with urgency and respected their game. They're the top team in the league. We had a commitment to our game tonight."

On his pass that led to the game-tying goal: "It goes off [Zach] Bogosian's skate and I'm not going to dwell on that. I will continue to try to make that pass."

On Hutton's effort in net: "He battled. He came up with four or five saves in overtime just to get us to that shootout. He was really engaged."

Phil Housley:

Fan of the product on the ice: "I liked the desperation, urgency and emotion we brought to this game. Guys were playing for each other against a real talented hockey team. Carter came up with some big saves for us, too."

Have to bring this effort in the future: "It's one thing that you look ahead to our schedule; we're playing some real good competition. We had really good focus tonight, and a strong start to the game. We've played really well against this team for four games now and we have to carry this with us moving forward."
