Two even-strength goals in both the second and third periods proved to be the difference (well, that and Pekka Rinne) for the Nashville Predators as they bounced the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night by a final score of 4-0.

Predators forward Mike Fisher netted his second goal since returning from retirement to get the scoring started at KeyBank Center in the middle stanza. Fellow forward Ryan Johansen doubled the score for Nashville less than five minutes later.

Filip Forsberg iced things in the third period with a goal that ballooned the Predators advantage to three. With seconds remaining, Chicago Blackhawks' import Ryan Hartman added insult to the Buffalo injury with Nashville's fourth score of the evening.

Sabres netminder Linus Ullmark stopped 28 of 32 pucks in the losing effort; his second start of the season.

Go inside the locker room to hear from Jack Eichel, Linus Ullmark, Kyle Okposo and Phil Housley following the loss.

Jack Eichel:

Need to be better: "We competed hard. Gotta like the effort. At the end of the day, though, it's still a 4-0 loss... Just have to try and continue to get better here."

Progress to be made: "The score is probably a bit misleading, but I know we have a lot to work on."

Linus Ullmark:

Formidable foes: "There's a reason why they've already clinched a playoff spot. They're a great team."

Early breakaway chance for Nashville; good or bad?: "It was good for the confidence. Good to get that first shot on you quick."

Want to be here to stay one day: "I want to win games, first of all. Second of all, I want to show off my development as a person."

Kyle Okposo:

Buzzsaw: "Their goalie obviously played really well. Wasn't giving up any rebounds. Really swallowed the puck all night. Can't complain about the overall play, though."

Predators on the prowl: "They play a full 60 minutes over there and stick to the game plan that their coach lays out. They're a bunch of tough customers over there."

Phil Housley:

The effort: "I'm really happy with the way we played against the best team in the league to this point. We were fast, aggressive and had good execution. I do wish, though, that we were grittier around the net to make it tough on their goaltender."

On Rinne: "He's the class of his position. We had some really solid opportunities yet he made them look easy. We had chances to rattle him early, but once he settles in he's difficult to beat."

On Ullmark: "I liked his game. He made some big saves when he had to. I thought he was really in control right from the get-go."

#WhatIsInterference [On Fisher's goal in the second]: "I don't know what to call goalie interference anymore."
