McIlroy threatening heading into Round 3 at The Open

Tiger Woods remains at even par

July 20, 2018 - 5:15 pm

The second round of The Open championship at Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland concluded Friday afternoon with a tie for first place on the leaderboard.

Americans Kevin Kisner and Zach Johnson sit alone in first after they concluded their second rounds at 6-under par.

Other than Kisner and Johnson, there is currently a three-way tie for third place with Pat Perez, Xander Schauffele, and Tommy Fleetwood all sitting at 5-under.

There are still some big names on the leaderboard that are within striking distance of the leaders. Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler both sit at 3-under par, while Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are sitting at even par after the first two rounds.

First place is still up for grabs as there are many golfers still in the running to take the lead at The Open. As the second round concludes, the cut was 2-over par. Some big names like Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas will not play into the weekend.

The Open will continue early Saturday morning, with the final round coming on Sunday.
