The team announced on Monday that it has signed centerman Jean-Sebastien Dea to a two-year deal with an annual average value of $700,000.

Dea has familiarity with Sabres general manager Jason Botterill as he's played a handful of games for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Penguins with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization.

In 29 career NHL games with the Penguins and New Jersey Devils, Dea has five goals and two assists. He's been much more productive in the American Hockey League with 185 points (83+102) in 308 games with the Penguins and Springfield Thunderbirds. Dea was traded from the Penguins to the Devils last season, and played 20 games in New Jersey.

Dea was an undrafted free agent signing by the Penguins after spending three years in the Quebes Major Junior Hockey League with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, where he went on to score 111 goals and 192 points in 183 games.
