Sabres add defenseman Oskari Laaksonen in third round

Buffalo takes their first defenseman of the 2017 NHL Draft

The Buffalo Sabres take their first defenseman of the 2017 NHL Draft, selecting Oskari Laaksonen with the 89th overall pick in the third round.

Laaksonen, 6' 1" and 165-pounds, split his time between the junior-A league and junior-B league with the Ilves program in the Finnish Liiga. In the A-program, Laaksonen put up six goals and nine points in 27 games played. He ended up registering 10 assists in 10 games with Ilves' B-program.

The Sabres will next pick with the 99th overall pick in the fourth round of the NHL Draft.
