After an impressive first training camp with the Buffalo Sabres, rookie defenseman Lawrence Pilut has been sent to the Rochester Americans.

The 22-year-old spent an extended amount of time with the Sabres as he took part in the Prospects Challenge, and gave the organization a good look during training camp and into the preseason. In three games this preseason, Pilut picked up an assist and registered six shots on goal, but he was also a minus-4.

The Sabres signed Pilut to a two-year entry-level contract this past May after being named as the Swedish Hockey League’s Defenseman of the Year this past season. With HV71 last season, Pilut scored eight goals and 38 points in 52 games.

The Sabres’ roster now sits at 23 healthy players with three days until the deadline to finalize the official roster at 23.

Buffalo will return to the ice for practice on Sunday after an off day on Saturday.
