The Buffalo Sabres announced a trio of roster moves on Monday ahead of their 2018-19 regular season opener on Thursday against the Boston Bruins at KeyBank Center.

The team has sent forward Alex Nylander, along with defensemen Brendan Guhle and Brandon Hickey to the Rochester Americans to trim the roster down to 26 players.

Nylander showed a lot of improvement and promise throughout training camp and the preseason games, scoring a goal and picking up four assists in five games.

Guhle looked overmatched, at times, in the preseason after having a promising cup of coffee with Buffalo at the end of last season. Hickey appeared in only two preseason games this fall and did not fit into the crowded depth chart for the Sabres on defense at this point.

The Sabres also updated the condition of forward Scott Wilson, who was injured at practice on Sunday.

Wilson was going to be an important depth piece for the Sabres while playing a bottom-six role. The 26-year-old winger was injured when his right leg rolled up under him at practice after colliding with Rasmus Ristolainen along the boards.
