Another game, another loss for the Buffalo Sabres as they couldn't keep up with the Vancouver Canucks in a 6-3 loss on Saturday afternoon at KeyBank Center.

In a tied game with less than 14 minutes left in regulation, the Canucks went on to score three unanswered goals to close out the game and complete the two-game season series sweep of the Sabres.

It was Buffalo who opened the scoring in the first period as defenseman Brandon Montour was able to blast a shot past Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom. After a power play opportunity expired, Buffalo continued to work in the Vancouver end, and eventually defenseman Rasmus Dahlin was able to thread a needle to Montour, whose slap shot found it's way in between the legs of the Canucks defender and over the shoulder of Markstrom.

The Canucks answered back later in the period when defenseman Troy Stecher worked his way up the side boards and took a bad shot toward the net. Vancouver forward Brock Boeser was tied up by forward Johan Larsson in front of the Sabres net, but he was still able to get a piece of the puck that got by Sabres goaltender Carter Hutton, who was starting his first game since Dec. 19.

Vancouver carried momentum into the second period and found the net early with a goal from Bo Horvat. The Canucks captain was able to take a pass from teammate Tanner Pearson, and attempted the then get a pass over the defenseman Quinn Hughes up on the rush. Sabres defenseman Lawrence Pilut was able to block the pass across, but the puck went right back to Horvat and he put it into an open Buffalo net as Hutton anticipated the pass across to Hughes and put himself out of position.

However, the Sabres were able to answer right back on the power play when Sam Reinhart one-timed a shot from the left faceoff circle past the left arm of Markstrom and in. Dahlin and Sabres captain Jack Eichel both picked up assists on the play after having the helpers on the team's first goal.

The third period opened with the Canucks re-taking the lead when forward J.T. Miller was able to convert on his own rebound chance from a sharp angle to the left of Hutton in goal.

The Sabres were quick to answer yet again when forward Zemgus Girgensons was able to get a piece of a Kyle Okposo shot that ended up squeaking between the legs of Markstrom to tie the game at 3-3.

From there, it was all Canucks, all the time.

At the 6:34 mark of the period, the Sabres turned the puck over in their own end to forward Brock Boeser, who played give-and-go with defenseman Chris Tanev and ended up firing it past Hutton, who overplayed the pass to Tanev.

About a little over a minute after going ahead 4-3, the Canucks added to the lead on a delayed Sabres penalty. This time, it was forward Jake Virtanen who went uncovered to the Buffalo net and was able to tap in a pass from Tyler Motte over the extended leg of Hutton.

Buffalo attempted to get back in the game late with the extra attacker and the empty net, but the Canucks put the game on ice when Loui Eriksson scored with 2:12 remaining in regulation.
