Dallas, TX (WGR 550) - The Sabres helped themselves a lot by winning on Tuesday in Columbus. They picked up one point on Boston and two points on all the rest of the teams around them in the playoff race.

Wednesday is another golden opportunity in Dallas as only Pittsburgh is playing at home against Tampa Bay.

Buffalo now trails the Islanders by seven, the Leafs by six, the Canadiens by five, the Bruins and the Capitals by four, the Blue Jackets by three and the Penguins by two.

The Sabres are now two points in front of Carolina.

Buffalo has won two of three games, all on the road. The loss was a game they handed on a silver platter to the Canucks in Vancouver.

If Phil Housley stays true to form, Linus Ullmark will get the call against the Stars. Ullmark is 10-4-3 with a 2.93 goals-against and .914 save percentage. Ullmark has lost three of his last four starts. He’s given up 12 goals in his last three starts. There was no morning skate, so there will be no announcement until 5:45.

Conor Sheary is coming off, maybe, his best game as a Sabre. He scored on a goaltender for the first time in 29 games.

Rasmus Dahlin has points in six out of seven games, picking up eight points. He’s also a plus-8 in those games.

Rasmus Ristolainen has points in four straight games, putting in 26:10 in Columbus. Ristolainen played the final 2:51 against the Blue Jackets.

Evan Rodrigues has goals in four straight games and points in six out of seven games.

Dallas is 6-1-0 in its last seven games against Buffalo. They have beaten them six straight times in Dallas. The Stars are 13-2-1 against Buffalo at home since moving to Dallas.

Things hadn’t been going very well for the Stars before their break. They’ve lost 4-of-5 games and 5-of-7. In the five losses, Dallas scored four goals.

The one thing that has held the Stars afloat has been their save percentage. Ben Bishop is at .921 and Anton Khudobin is at .923.

Tyler Seguin has 45 points in 49 games, but his team expects more from him. Alexander Radulov has 41 points in 39 games.

The Sabres traded Taylor Fedun to Dallas earlier this season and has appeared in 26 games, scoring two goals and four assists.

Join Brian Koziol for the pre-game starting at 7:30 when he’ll be joined by Phil Housley and two players.
