Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - The Sabres have re-signed one of their restricted free agents. C.J. Smith agrees to a two year, $1.4 million contract.

In 2017, Smith signed as a college free agent out of UMass-Lowell and had one assist in two games.

Smith spent the whole next season in Rochester and made the AHL All-Star game thanks to 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points in 57 games.

Last season with the Amerks, Smith potted 28 goals and 30 assists for 58 points in 62 games. Smith also got back up with the Sabres, scoring two goals in 11 games.

Smith is 24-years-old and is a very intelligent player. He will be one of the younger players pushing in training camp to get on the roster.
