Sabres release 2018-19 regular season schedule

The team opens the season at home against the Bruins on October 4

The Buffalo Sabres released their schedule for the upcoming 2018-2019 regular season on Thursday, along with the other 30 teams in the National Hockey League.

The Sabres will open up their season on October 4 against the Boston Bruins at KeyBank Center, followed by three more games on home ice against the New York Rangers, Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche.

Some other highlights from the schedule release includes:

  • Longest road trip: 5 games (October 13 through October 21)
  • Longest home-stand: 7 games (February 1 through February 16)
  • Eight afternoon games at KeyBank Center
    • Monday, October 8 vs. Vegas, 3 p.m. (Columbus Day)
    • Saturday, November 3 vs. Ottawa, 1 p.m.
    • Saturday, November 10 vs. Vancouver, 1 p.m.
    • Friday, November 23 vs. Montreal, 4 p.m.
    • Saturday, December 8 vs. Philadelphia, 1 p.m.
    • Saturday, February 9 vs. Detroit, 1 p.m.
    • Sunday, February 10 vs. Winnipeg, 3 p.m.
    • Saturday, February 23 vs. Washington, 1 p.m.

  • Matchups with the Stanely Cup champion Washington Capitals on February 23 at home, and December 15 and December 21 in Washington.
  • Matchups with the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights on October 8 at home, then on October 16 in Las Vegas. 
  • The Sabres close out their season with three of their final four games at home, finishing on the road at the Detroit Red Wings on April 6.
  • Buffalo does not have to wait as long as last year to play a game against Toronto, the first game between the rivals is December 4 in Buffalo. However, the series does not continue until late Feburary. 
  • The Boston series comes to a close quickly again this season, all four games between the Sabres and Bruins will be played before the first week of January is over.
