Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres had their four game point streak broken in Philadelphia. It was Buffalo’s 11th loss in one-goal games as they’ve gone 4-5-6. Carolina is in town on Friday and the Hurricanes have lost 12 one-goal games going 5-5-7.

It seems like Buffalo always loses to Carolina, but actually that’s not true. The Sabres are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games against the Canes. If you look at it from the Carolina side, they’re 10-4-2 in its last 16 games vs. Buffalo.

Back-to-back games have not been kind to the Sabres this season as they’re 2-6-0 in the first game and 2-4-1 in the second.

The Sabres only got one goal in Philadelphia, but it broke two lengthy streaks. Ryan O’Reilly scored his first goal in 13 games and Zemgus Girgensons picked up his first point in 22 games.

Chad Johnson gets the start in goal. In his last game, Johnson gave up four goals in a loss at Pittsburgh. Robin Lehner had started five straight games.

Johnson is 1-5-2 with a 3.64 goals against and .883 save percentage.

Phil Housley said the rest of the lineup is a game-time decision.

This is the final game of Carolina’s six game road trip. They’re coming off a win in Las Vegas after losing in Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Jose and Vancouver.

Cam Ward got the win against the Golden Knights. Ward is 5-2-1 with a 2.96 goals against and .907 save percentage. Scott Darling is 7-9-6 with a 2.72 goals against and .899 save percentage.

Former Blackhawks forward Teuvo Teravainen is the Hurricanes leading scorer with eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points in 30 games.

Co-captain Justin Faulk only has one goal and six assists this season.
