Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - The Sabres have their last game before Christmas break on Saturday against Anaheim. Buffalo has only won three of its last 11 games since winning 10 in a row.

Linus Ullmark will be in goal after winning two straight games. This season, he’s 7-1-3 with a 2.94 goals-against and .915 save percentage.

Phil Housley said that Jason Pominville has been skating the past few days, but, of course, won’t be ready for the Ducks.

The Sabres could use a win over Anaheim because they’re three points back of Toronto and only one in front of Boston in the Atlantic Division. On Saturday afternoon, the Bruins beat Nashville, while the Leafs host the Rangers Saturday night. After the Sabres won in Boston last Sunday, they were seven in front of the Bruins.

In Buffalo’s 2-1 loss in Washington on Friday, Sam Reinhart had his 11-game point streak broken, while Jack Eichel and Jeff Skinner lost their seven-game streaks.

Buffalo used its speed to beat the Ducks in Anaheim 4-2 back on October 21.

The Ducks comes in with two consecutive losses after winning four straight games and nine out of 10.

John Gibson has been excellent in the Anaheim net, going 15-10-4 with a 2.54 goals-against and .926 save percentage. He’s backed up by former Sabre Chad Johnson because another former Sabre, Ryan Miller, has a knee injury.

Ryan Getzlaf is Anaheim’s leading scorer with 29 points in 31 games.

Join Brian Koziol, Pat Malacaro and me at 6:00 when we’ll have a holiday roundtable followed by an interview with Phil Housley.
