Derick Brassard tied the game with 31-seconds remaining in regulation and Mike Hoffman found the net 1:12 into overtime, lifting the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 comeback win over the Buffalo Sabres at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday. Senators center Matt Duchene assisted on all three of Ottawa's goals.

Scott Wilson's third goal in four games staked the Sabres to a 1-0 lead - a lead that held for nearly two full periods until Marian Gaborik found the net for Ottawa. Gaborik, playing in his first game since being acquired by Ottawa on Tuesday, got his stick on an Erik Karlsson shot tying the score 1-1 in the third period.

About 10 minutes after Gaborik's tying goal, Evan Rodrigues netted the go-ahead goal, rattling a shot off the post and into the net for the 2-1 Sabres lead. Kyle Okposo picked up the assist after forcing a turnover in the Senators zone. Okposo carried the puck up ice and found Rodrigues, whose quick shot beat Craig Anderson. The goal marked Rodrigues' fifth point in five games (2 goals, 3 assists).

With time winding down in regulation, Brassard walked in and snapped a shot over Lehner, tying the score once again. Gaborik shifted the puck over to Brassard, marking the newcomer's second point of the evening. The late goal forced overtime, where Hoffman ended it on a one-time pass from Karlsson. Lehner, who was strong for most of the evening, finished with 33 saves, compared to 23 for Anderson. The loss stops Buffalo's road winning streak at four games.
