Syracuse was the last team to make it into the NCAA Tournament and they are taking full advantage. After beating Arizona State in the First Four, and beating TCU in the Round of 64, the Orange upset Michigan State in Detroit on Sunday, 55-53.

In three wins in the NCAA Tournament, the Orange have held three teams that all averaged over 80 points per-game, for 86 combined points below their averages.

It was not a particularly entertaining game to the average fan. A lot of defense, and a lot of missed shots. Even in a win, Syracuse had just one three-pointer, three assists, and they were outrebounded 51-30. The game ended with the Spartans not making a field goal in the final 5:35 of the game. Jim Boeheim's defense consistently got hands in the faces of Michigan State's shooters and it paid off.

Syracuse sophomore guard Tyus Battle led the way with 17 points, and put the final nail in the coffin with a step back, fade-away, jumper with under a minute to play that stretched the lead to three.

The Orange will next head out to Omaha, Nebraska to face the second-seed Duke Blue Devils on Friday night.
