(WGR 550) - Team Canada has had its problems at the World Championship and things didn’t get much better on Monday. Yes, the Canadians won in overtime, but Latvia shouldn’t be taking the Canadians into OT and Finland shouldn’t be blowing Canada off the ice.

Connor McDavid (EDM) scored the overtime goal, knocking his own rebound out of the air and he didn’t even celebrate. He seemed annoyed that his team was even in overtime and winning by just a 2-1 score.

In six games, McDavid has 11 points, which has him fourth in tournament scoring.

Anthony Beauvillier (NYI) scored the other Team Canada goal when he found a puck laying behind Latvia’s goalie, Kristers Gudlevskis (NYI). Gudlevskis had 31 saves on the game.

Darcy Kuemper (ARZ) was in goal for Canada. He made 14 stops and was beaten on a shot from the left point that he whiffed on as he went to catch it. Goaltending has been an issue for Team Canada as both their goalies are backups in the NHL.

Ryan O’Reilly had three goals in his first three games, but he’s been held pointless in his last three contests. He has no assists in the tournament and is plus-5 overall.

On Monday, he centered Jaden Schwartz and Brayden Schenn of the Blues. O’Reilly played 16:39 with one shot on goal.

Canada is in third place in Group B with 12 points and will make the quarterfinals no matter what it does Tuesday against Germany. Five teams in the tournament have more points than Canada, including the United States.
