The Buffalo Bisons have a very important week ahead of them as they are suddenly in postseason conversation.

Thanks, greatly in part, to a month of June that saw the Herd win 21 times in 31 games, Buffalo suddenly sits in second place in the I.L. North standings entering the week of July 15; their 49-44 record trails only the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (53-40) in the North. The Bisons also have a three-game lead over the next closest competitor, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.

As for the week ahead, Sahlen Field will be busy. Buffalo hosts the Charlotte Knights for a four-game series starting Monday at 7:05 p.m. The Knights bring an admirable 50-43 record into Buffalo, good for third-place in the I.L. South.

Come the end of the work week, it's a three-game date with the powerful Columbus Clippers starting on July 19. Honda Friday Night Bash at Sahlen Field should certainly be buzzing as the Clippers own the best record in the International League by points-percentage. Their 56-36 record (.609 win-percentage) is points better than the perennial powerhouse Durham Bulls (56-38, .596 win-percentage), who lead the I.L. South.

Here's the schedule for all seven upcoming matchups:

  • 07-15 vs. Charlotte - 7:05 p.m.
  • 07-16 vs. Charlotte - 7:05 p.m.
  • 07-17 vs. Charlotte - 1:05 p.m. (Buffalo Wings Wednesday)
  • 07-18 vs. Charlotte - 7:05 p.m.
  • 07-19 vs. Columbus - 7:05 p.m. (Honda Friday Night Bash)
  • 07-20 vs. Columbus - 6:05 p.m.
  • 07-21 vs. Columbus - 1:05 p.m.

Canandaigua, New York native Shawn Morimando is scheduled take the mound for the Bisons to kick off the home-field defense against the Knights' Kyle Kubat.

You can head down to the downtown ballpark as Buffalo hopes to continue their strong play throughout the rest of the summer with a playoff berth in mind.
