Which NFL Teams Are in Position to Benefit Most From Extra Playoff Spot in 2020?

Changes are coming to the NFL playoff format, and it could be implemented as soon as this year.

On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the league owners have proposed to add an extra playoff team to each conference, increasing the amount of teams from 12 to 14 total.

There would be just one bye for each conference, and six games instead of four would be played during Wild Card weekend.

Had this been implemented in last season's playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs would not have had a bye and would have played the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card Round in the AFC.

In the NFC, the Green Bay Packers would have played a Wild Card Round game against last year's NFC champion Los Angeles Rams.

While free agency and the NFL Draft has yet to happen, there are still plenty of teams who missed out on the playoffs last year who may be looking forward to this new format — should it pass.
