John Murphy. Donald Jones and are one buffalo studio on this. Tuesday in the offseason hip to be joined in studio by the defense of coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. Getting set for his second season as DC for the bills haven't have coats Wesley Frazier with his coach good afternoon picked up by me. You're just back from a trip with several members of the coaching staff. To the buffalo city mission tells what that was about to. Agree expires must and it and the coaches to go down and mechanic give back to our communities and a you know we would their servant who and a lot to our. And we'd give it up responsible to some guys were to kids in they were part of the group builds cooking the food and prepare and it. And in that we had another group that was outside serving of food on the floor knows part of a group of conservative food so. Odyssey to smiles and have the conversations with people where there was who was really special time can you tell us who was in the group that next week. Well Nick Cannon prepared to move force souls it was more of artists put it in a Lleyton today edited that so. We have probably veto a great idea to have some Marco has picket Brad those videos that the city mission especially this time of year cold winter days. Is critical right frogs. Almost I mean. What with their doing that this emissions is fantastic meaning that they're serving three meals a day to. Those little less fortunate some homeless. Some or an illness it's which would have been sheltered at the facilities so. To provide those meals and to be with to serve the of the public in net passes oust then what was the menu. Well we had a little bit of a mixed they at some Turkey. That's corn at some potato head real nice dessert that I cannot. Awarded did that that must sell so. Who it was a good meal low around. You know it for me when I go back home or are you going to certain tests in inner cities. He sees certain things and you just feel for people buried him and when you do something my would you guys do today kind of sometimes you get out of perspective of the bigger picture in life Frey and when you do something like what you guys do today kind of puts you back in that sense of man. I'm truly blessed to be where I am coaching them and to do that influence. You're exactly right not I know us assessed as I know are bellicose as it as well as a youth. You sometimes. In what we do for a living you can get so caught up from what we do it and glamour of it and all the things that come along with it in. It you know used this kind of puts you back in touch the reality mean there are some people and now world literally struggling disorders and their love supposed to be rooted. To go and give back in the served. Broke Baltimore's joy to me I mean it. You know La Paz the comments from the people that would they're happy to see us there reveals plans but. You know it was reciprocal majority we felt as a servant in the Buena Park of today. Knows it was special and you have to think. The put ghoul family along with some McDermott articles for allow myself and other coaches to go now on this surface. It would of a busy time now with the draft and free agency coming up as well. Whose idea was that do this if coaches involved with the students actually I think limb then the ball soccer team chaplain the person put it together. Included Austin a lot of times it's our players and right now and community in. He felt like this is an opportunity for the causes to serve and already did you think there's more in the future or things like them lifers coaching group right at the players are out there right I hope there is a mean it. Meaning you you you'd like to feel connected to the community and it's allowed us to be able to do that and to get out and six of Hanson and and and smile and serve so I hope it happens again speak to be connected to the community coach I really need to be PO couple gifts nights ago here is your wife Freddie be fields you'd obviously you're digging into this Butler community re elect Alia this is a great place to be west new York and you know as you know we get the best fans in the country so it's a great place to be in. And on night we just out enjoying ourselves just add some entertainment and it was a it was a good time. Was it effectively do you find that hard to do I mean. Every breath everybody knows efficiently or do you find it hard to get out into the community especially just on hang with the wife and have a normal night. You know it comes with the territory though as you know and you know the people doing good though when we're out in public even on that nightmare in about it recognize me they were really positive. And of course did that way we finished our season had a lot to do with that let's do it but it's been positive about the Taliban out of public. With coach Leslie Frazier the bills that defense of coordinator. I wanna ask you a couple of things including the Indianapolis Colts did you actually go offer an interview with we can with them but did I was out on Saturday met with their general managers some under other top brass and it was a good experience and you know frank in the plugged in the position really kept him great guy great friend as well and of the critics' fears me but I'm looking forward to our 2018 season near buffalo what's less immunity for coaching position oh boy has been awhile as an analogue this little so it was good to. Get that experience and and anything about the mood in the degree and so it was it was it was good luck. Ways the does it changed since the last time you interviewed the do you see anything different in terms of what a team might be looking for now. Vs what you what they might have been for the past. Not so much in every situation is different I mean we're all familiar with the things that happened with Indianapolis prior to. This interview process so they were for sure you know looking for integrity and leadership and and and some little things and I think most teams are. But sometimes they're looking for something a little bit different but. Not a whole lot different what I don't put in the past there were situations just a little bit different exit interviews as you said the camp came out of nowhere just days. The that you use is sufficient time to prepare to feel like you had your docs and orders into the standard. As best as you could you know it's a short window to get prepared because there's just admits ended nobody really saw a comment. But you do best you can separate time we're all probably won't assign Tom Tom all of the bot Tom line and you go with the best football. Coach and it's going to be a situation like that it's often said you know there's like legends about. Coaches who were hired to. Kevin with here's my coordinators Anders is due is it essentially or do you think maybe they're looking more to get a feel for how you might. Act as a head coach what year what year you know it's demeanor might be easier to. What's accommodation they definitely wanna you know see how you gonna handle some things in in my case. Little bit different because you know I've been on the silent before as a head coach so you have a have a field. But they really wanna see your staff they wanna see the guys who were really gonna. Insured through gonna have a chance to be successful that staff at the big deal as we all know cause as the head coach you know you're managing and tired it was hard to. Focus on just one segment of the football team you need to manage the entire team and if you don't put together a good step you can get cooled allowed to directions and in that kind of takes away. You bill to be a good hit coat how hard is it Ford island phrase right now who has the job. To go in there so late in the game week a lot of coaches have the jobs. I think a lot of would depend known you know what Chris Ballard to general managers and rested organizations got a wives have done up to this point where free agency. Along with they don't address the biggest thing use. Frank is a similar nickel to stand up and a lot of coaches that are aren't on the market that would of world markets they their four weeks ago the news or near arm process was was happening. So that puts a little bit behind eight ball but just there was some good coaches there well there as far as you coach it's got to be typical I would think that. To put when the call comes they wanted your head coach. You can't just ignore that right and and and in your case how do you approach you've done it before yeah you've been successful coordinator obviously been probably for a long time. But is it the point where you can never say no no think Hewitt that I'd that is it and look at it. Well done at this stage in my career in my life. There are some situations. Potentially signal to because it's. Some situations a better and others all 32 teams or not this thing and candles for the fantasy the National Football League in this case the net. Oh it you know that the three of us as three is 32 different entities they have their own ways of doing things so. Some situations a veteran nose and at this point in my life in my career. I would have to be careful about saying yes to this verses. You know and opposites which we you might signal. Which you need to do your homework now. When you maybe in Europe six a seventy in the lead. You might say yes to everything right but every job is not a good job there too good position to be comfortable position for you. I like the job that I have guessed was most important that I do a good job where I am in. Everything else will take services. With Leslie Frazier the bills' defense of coordinator. Let's talk about the job you have in the deep that you have you've. I assumed out with the season about a month behind is gone through your review of the 2017 seasons what did you think your defense which elected to do it and won't elect emperor. There were axis of Northrop process and what's in tape and evaluating our roster and you know we. There were a lot of things as we Golden Tate that are really like what we sultanate and yeah obviously some things that you want improve won't there always will be. And us the back to we would protect the football away as well as we do it. To hold the number teams that we deal on the seventeen points of the way we did throughout the season was impressed. That three game streak where we really gave up a lot of yards medals heart period off our defense and for a team and fortify us our guys have enough grit to persevere adapter. Come out on the banking angle down Kansas City come away would have great defensive effort that kind of propelled us found six games of the season to get Plano works so. There were a lot of good things that happened and we had a ball and roll but the good news is our guest came out of it and it's been a strong. You know how is what's it like for you as a coordinator when everything is going. The way you want to go defense to be taken a ball away making tackles and then all of a sudden. You have a stretch of games where it's like we can't do anything worked out or call here where what is going to happen with them like these. Our man he tugged off rested because there are ten Zaman. When I called distant past this worked against to play and out now or it's illegally discredited yet you know yet figured out now. Force of plus we get it figured out a gas got back on track plea will down the stretch and in one of the Jackson do even remotely well there as well also. But that was a Pelz at a tough time but as you know and unknown as well. You go both in cycles like that don't seasons whether be at the early part of season could be Mitt point you don't want to be an important number. And values figures. Imports of we found now waived by the time we get some good technique of the New Orleans gave a lot is maybe the toughest game in. I walked away from what was it November 12 number. I think November 12 pick I thought I hit an incident now that's super bolted I mean that's how good the saints were that is the had to be like. I know but the pusher at a slow these guys to. Yeah they they had a ruler of the good offers good team in their defense which came around and they struggled early in the season counterweight so. They did a great job and with the quarterback. When there it coast as a great so was will scheme and so. Good job by the number of months early fortunate follows rebound in the I don't know way. And I've said this a coach McDermott we talked with have a couple weeks ago. That morning the Kansas City game. The season was kind of on the break you have gone either way and in a way it went well it is a testament to you when you go to set and your players right four wins in the last six games of the year. On no doubt about me. Kansas City they were desperate to get a win and they their plane home and we know how tough it is to win and Aaron introduced in the case and so obstacle appeared. And hold that office the ten points off our defense to play to win aided. And that predate his way to come away with that pick in the two minute drew. Mean that was cute on the road to the plate like that account you know. Most of them point oh these cities of at that point called this late last week. Africa and there. But but you know that that that happens sometimes and that thing news. Our guys a testament to their character. You know we're preaching to with talking to about you can do as with two on tape they've done it will before. And for a reason we have these lapses so you know you've done it before so I'm new ways to get back to doing it the way were doing earlier this season. And Canada who'd you Lena as far as the player ranks you know any level of your defense that. At a right the ship that can pull things together who you who did you find yourself sane. You gotta helped lead. Well how for sure along with the reds mean red zone and both guys were key to. Really taking charge in the locker is one thing that the coach has to be talking about what we need to do it. Have you leaders with in the locker echoing that same message revenue in court against difficult to stand. Makes a huge difference and have been situations word coaches and one thing lead his sense of the different. That's never good fortunate possibly impact here the leaders who. Really bought into the masses and carry it to the players and routed the man. Perfection on the practice field which allowed you play well some so we're fortunate because les. Is it hard for for you. And a guy like Lorenzo who was dating a special teams. Makes a lot of plays a special teams player who can come down he plays linebacker but he can come down and really help out and the rest is are you just kind of find some times where you wanna put him in the game. There are some times there were some time early in the season were trying to figure out you know what's the best thing have them. Morton lob acquisition or get more involved in the past Russian as the season went all we root on on and it would animate. The story use them better its threats and really on the stand what is lucas' work and it helped us the play but also of them restaurants go to wander in here post season analysis of your defense. What you thought I mean you're the well I guess we all knew you wouldn't be a heavy set team but what you thought of your past Russian and maybe generating. The need to pass for a shift to what can you do. What do scenario we definitely improved on that was not really up to par plus we were able to you know get the takeaways within a set but it wasn't always due to pressure on the quarterback. Our doesn't back in crude and rude good jobs of growth on America's but we need to improve. I'll pass rush of being able to win with four you know we did bring six the couples would arm where our pressure on the quarterback but. When we look at free agency this offseason we look at the draft that's an error will really wanna dress that's taken a lot about that. It was before the final game against two in the Christmas he gave anyway. Bill Belichick major secondary you're safeties a huge compliment and if you cut that about. How Jordan Boyer and Mike I'd have like an uncanny ability to kind of be in the right place at that time. Do you got a lot from those days we percent. A year ago we don't know who's gonna be playing safety gear and look at those two look what they did this year they were outstanding force Michael course being named that Pro Bowl that Jordan mania at a Pro Bowl season as well they did a terrific job and in outsold it two Davis as well yeah as a rookie coming in what we asked him to. To a lot of things you wouldn't ordinarily ask the roof could do with a beat matching up oversee were Trout from the receive with the ball game. And then when EJ gains was healthy played very well forces but also so. But our safeties they really did a great job would make it hard quarterbacks you'd be known what were dorm when you. Think we finished maybe. Third his fourth big plays allowed a league we were normal one and passes noble forty yards and leave. A lot of it was due to boost the play of our safeties disguising coverage most Gaza and making things look like what they are you know quarterback think's gonna be some mistake and also the single dime vice Versa. How long does it take you obviously played UV. How long does it take you to figure out. It doesn't really do it at disguising coverages is not all the bees not all say these are good enough to rotate. And not give it away I mean and there are certain quarterbacks that will that would teach you to do what Tom Brady's notorious for getting you royalty. And then he knows exactly what to do so how how long did it take you to figure out these guys really handle to door and act and I can rotate these guys if I want. You know we worry you know old cities and offseason. Last spring we can have a field that these guys had a feel for what needs to be done because. If you can you can practice it and you can drilling but as you know though when you get and gain to have support it whole look. No it's all guys don't have any panic. The Philippine gotta get down a sewer and you. Know the physical discomfort but the guys that can help the poise and just hang in there. Then you have a chance to make things went with the aren't you have a chance to get. Summit in assistance that we in the beauty is better to left with the bills defense when you unless the creature I don't talk about individual quarters put. I wondered do you have like a prototype quarter that you like in your defense. It is in his own tight quarter and what does it mean when when you think of you know this is his own court what are you look at. Well I dearly you know you like to give a guy would be a pretty good height you know we'd like that you guys. 510 in about 61 amino rude because of bus. You like form of a good forty time no good speed and quickness. You also like form. Good football instincts that's a big deal that corner or safety. An indelible part of it is. The football intelligence. When you can talk to him about football and he gets onto the course of the game when you gotta make adjustments. You're not afraid to do because there are some times you but to get the game plan and guess what dude awesome told a different way it. You talked about doing a week you've got to just sort of football intelligence is on the part of it so. Those are some ingredients that we look for in with the worst out indeed season and found a fine course. You have your prototypical DB I'm sure there are times were there guys who're. 595. To end and it can and I really like this can short. But I like them. How do you talk Notre Dame is here Africa and I didn't know about today's how do you trying to make those decisions based on if you. If you wanna keep decade or not because he's sure right you take a look at his production it's always back there and if the gas producer and even though he may not have the miserables that you. Save our idea. You can't deny and take his place so you you've got to let that gap plate as he makes plays you know regardless of fact you may not have. Some measure was that you you look for the position that's the case to be the playmaker. We want marching. Coach that the games of the thing in the season is that thing with this time a year disquiet seemingly time a year a wonder how much. Do you think your job is involved here in helping scouts you know scouting talent going to come by a couple of weeks. How much how much do you invest yourself in in this time of year in what's needed that's a good question because and an NFL today I mean it's really become. A year round job when it comes to. Free agency in a drought in like right now part of what we're responsible for his coaches. Is identified the right freeagent ticket particularly view for a possible be on our football team along with the draft picks it will work and it would our scouts on I did a fund the right guys that fit our system. In what we're looking for both Caracol wise and talent was so. We are heavily involved in this process you know they're catching us up all summer work they've done back in the fall and even a year ago les juniors and seniors that are coming out. And now we've become almost like scouts December 2 years force identifying and and it figured out which doubtful fit us. You guys went down to conceivable do you like to get out to meet these guys one on one does he might have hide whom you know you would think man I'm like this can and our defense. You like to get out there and see him face to face him and not just let the scouts do all that work on the road. I like to get out in the cinema silk purse and you know it's important to me to get a feel for the individual you know how we jail. Wow what with his background. Just. You know how you handle certain things and asking some pointed questions and just get response side. Did you know you you hear from the scouts they give their opinion about player and talking about him but. It's a different thing when you ground you work them out yourself. Use tennis to talk to him about things that are important you and you listen what's important in him. You can get a feel for tonight is going to be a good fit what to do. Coach thanks for this congratulations on the acted the community meal Biloxi served its city mission where you Wii U the coordinator of the defense of coaches and as well today. Owls out just have been out they were probably order me around hold up more now don't know what to do the role reversal motives various courts activists and congratulations on the community via the buffalo city mission the bills coach is volunteering down there. We've got worked up Jabber B show from one bills drive this is Buffalo Bills treaty. I'll jump back at one bills drive thanks for tuning in today we got a lot we've covered a lot of territory today. Including coats Wesley Frazier we thank him for stopping by in that empty chair there. Each one of the smartest guys ever been around for a really buckle Smart you know nothing is. Off the cup with coach Frazier. No and I I think there's a good thing for guys who are. Running your organization there and he's a defense the corners and he's running the defense you need to have guys who. Awful methodical and everything that they do obviously during the course of the game you gotta make decisions quick decisions but for the most part you need guys who. Don't just react to everything free easy and coach McDermott is not their guy. Those Leslie Frazier is not their guy Brian Abell we'll see how he year on the field the day doesn't appear to be that guy we've had him on the show. So I think those that are right guys to have running things. Because that trickles down everybody else man on on the team the rest of the coaches the players if you if I feel like as a coach you make isn't crazy decisions and you know I really think it about these decisions right. I'll trust what you don't right now and I think those guys are all very well thought out it's out of my it's Blanche for the front America which don't talk about how. You can not just football was your beat a meeting in somebody blurred out and I theater but it discount. Almost like reflexes are gonna be a good idea. Sometimes is not a good idea yet but you know it's. You gotta think about it I think you get that from Leslie Frazier somebody would say I'm just guessing there's music hey why don't we blitz on this play a good split. Got a Super Tuesday. That's not a good idea and I monopoly here you gotta have some some experience in some background and you gotta have the nerve. And conviction to say well. Not a good idea when doing that well you're means. There's not a good idea to do you hear stuff that nobody ever says that it. Says that. Nobody nobody errors. Especially the Boston Red Cross is like and we don't do this definitely advising him room they can to themselves like what. You know but everybody really yeah an ugly who no problem with. Not a good idea sometimes. I think coach I look I'm glad frank Gregg got Jeff as I left frank Reich. I'm glad that Wesley Frazier is returning to the Buffalo Bills I think he brings a lot to the table in the last year. When they were all these stories written about you know the bills turnaround blob of whether you know. We we need now to all that in everyday tugboat defense senator John McDermott well. Tech coach Frazier I think had a lot to do with how the defense plea. And then people don't really want and we've talked over and go about this to other different guys on the defense about this. People think it's Sean McDermott's defense. Leslie Frazier is really callables place as the one that. As may connecting at all and I think a lot of those guys on the defense especially the defensive backs knowing that he's played defense at bat. You know they really looked up to Leslie Frazier he has that mentor type of debt personality you know and I think that a lot of the guys respect him. And he has a huge part of the reason why the team ended up in the plus the reason why they were able to right the ship after going today at three game skid we're. They didn't seem like they could do anything they can stop anybody from doing anything. He was a big part of the reason they were able to get. Going back and steady approach is such that it be great head coach again some day if he wants. I'd like that I liked his answer about how expected jump in every job that's out there but I I think if you find a good situation. And watts that I hope he gets what he wants is I think he'd be really good coach probably probably better than he was even the first go round Minnesota thing. You know I like Dan answers well. And and people all week and it really just depends on how how where you are in your career the people always say it was only 32 of these jobs out there. That doesn't mean that he's his jump and everyone else because certain organizations. Have traditionally. Just not been good organizations to coach Ford to play for I mean this is what it is you can't just jump at everything because. All it's another head coast if a guy. Who your hot right now. You gotta do is battling yourself mangle back another year you'll be hot again next year and maybe another opportunity will come but then in his. Point in his career. It doesn't make sense to jump and everything like that means he's comfortable he's been a coach he's not doing it for the money he's gone because he loves the game a while and I just jump in every hour. What you just said it would coach Frazier said and tell you quick story you're Donald about a conversation I had with Mike peck who's here's deepens when did your editors. Doug world one year in court wreck track record at the jets. Brit Senior Bowl one year you know after his first year buffalo in the brown stepped up Pitt has been mentioned in the press I haven't. We have pre released civic conversation with a on the sidelines at the Senior Bowl practice. And it'd browns in those. Top right. Sure. That he should and he said some of it is only 32 with the capture that jobs open etheridge have got doctor. Now it's not for me to say don't do a coach but it you know it's in the O Larry David. You know and it didn't work out their Foreman maybe not through any quality is. But that's the difference in approach between what pat we're pat was that what was it three or four years ago where coach traders in his career. Coach creature I think very articulately. Expressed you don't have to jump at every job in the time coach pat was like toll 32 of these Armenia execs at those words will be there. Kind of going through this one in my for an though is for tomorrow is there a coach of about guys who back on primarily was first getting the job. This school this district notoriously bad on all fronts educate academically. Sports notoriously bad he wants to be. A coach he wants to coach. High school college whatever the case may be. And they offered him the job and I remember saint century wanna take that out there you know because. I mean you're not gonna get support on any thought there and the kids. The high school level private schools are taken all of the talent out of the inner cities. So it's going to be hard for you to win there he was like me and you he was looking at it like well I'd go to air. And I can turn this thing around it will help me become the key was to be an athletic director it would help me become an athletic director. I'm like I understand that but. And Alice now like like it or anything like that but that is a tough place to go yet not gonna get the support from the family. From the teachers and school district any of that a short he would take that he took it. And now he regrets taken because he has it. Yeah as a one in years and it has a lot to do with he just came gifted talent to stayed there because all of us. Private schools are taken in the school system is so assist you can't jump in every Apatow. A bit and you know. A lot of his ambition people are ambitious I get patent but I mean what thing effort coaches. Through my entire career. Football coaches basketball coaches that the central question is before the take a job as can you win packer coaches I've heard coaches asked at one another. That meaning she got OK and you win there. Will you be set to succeed that topic has continued support systems huge dinner and as much as coach in the minutes life via you know you have a support system it's hard for. For anybody to do anything you can't do everything going home. And if your support system is really working against you it's hard. Long way of saying we really appreciate coaches bring your insight seriously I think. He's my favorite guests in you know because he comes out and the like Jude tells us what he's been doing. His role in the scouting process sounds like he. He enjoys enemy of your game days the Russian practice week is is the you know the real nuts and bolts of the job but even this time a year so the key panel likes. In face to face with some of these press you think that was like a bonding moment that they have that they that the coaches and you have a little bit yeah bonding role reversal let Obama know and my team guys. Run this thing and AA. Let's over and neither do that is. Good for them to bills coaches volunteering at city mission today Valentine's Day. Community meal phobia highlights of that up on our website at Buffalo Bills that up got a few minutes left here to discuss the various issues. Still up the table we've been talking about them. What the offseason. NFL priority should be we've been talking about what's the strongest group for the bills' roster all of that still on the table six call from bill in Niagara Falls go ahead bill you're on the year. Okay thank you. I'm retired I'm a little bit. They want to thank all the way back to the cap will not a good case and quote that I I got a short list. I'll stating that it stopped and he used issue here is why they did it and saying OK okay. I thought well I oh ops back at its recently has again would Kyra Taylor Antioch spent. We're. And here's another name gym shorts the short letter expense sickened by great. Terrific offensive coordinator stop formations I never so poppies or. It's. Eight. The end an op at work in. Quit the Iraq okay so we had great defense that we brought in Iraq she destroyed our defense and great quote and offense while and so did not put the two segments together. And that we get stopped. My goal. I don't know you go with the design your recapping the the recent bills history is there a point to this so what what he trying to say. OK so on OPEC Watson who might sort of experience as what you want us to track bites and I wanna enter more bulge so we get to Kansas City I love should lead this great great player. By that I. And so now. Yeah born and it goes as word game one and I said my son I never saw a secondary. Laid it good sort of built and I don't know how long and from day one we've gained sixteen. They were the best group of our defense I really enjoyed it finally. Sort of due to let Gilbert go around. Okay Phil I'd I'd Rivlin failure count all over the place that was a point there a total of what's. Began with a list that is a thousand the strongest group in the main yet but stuff goes in the coach it's not just who's playing well. Stuff goes in the coaching decisions like that you know late. How's the dynamic in their coach's meeting to I don't know was it good with Gilbert I don't know never heard anything positively or negatively but. A duplicate on some level you have to trust the head coach to make those decisions to assemble the staff that he wants. He hired Gilbert he replace Gilbert. We'll see oh please so I I don't think you. You just second guess it based on how good the front to back you play there's one that goes into that right now. News it's a job the company and and this is not speculate on anything with you don't know what is going on behind closed doors you never will. There are reasons why guys move on their teams more from certain people menaces. It is what it is here's. Call from Tom in Amherst hello Tom welcome your earlier this. Hey guys well I sure hope they keep time. Yard that staying. I exterior just forward the year we went OK and I wonder how. You know it's easier super ball. It got 32 ports cameras. And edit every game like say. New England Green Day. You have maybe twenty work shareware. But. Cleveland errors so enough they may have sent. So. How is that. How would that an equal playing field. When. You are not. You know it you're not I'm up it's. The so look Plainfield. In terms of we're. Where the replay this may come down. Yeah you're right it's not a level playing field it's it's. Two different sets of officiate any rules go to your absolutely right that's the problem would repay all along. I agree with. The next it got one more issue we talked a lot about you know the replay issue came about because of a discussion of offseason priorities for the NFL. Kevin Seifert at a fell courteous paean to account wrote about the top ten offseason priorities for the league's strict enough to catch rule concussion policy exact etc. Here's one that I think is is. Pretty important. Pretty important he says that league must assess the roots. Of the data there Guinean and viewership audience debt NFL broadcast ratings fell almost 9% or almost 10% this year in the regular season. The Euro was 8% so it's an accelerated decline I guess the ratings that are. Bigger than any other live event you know fox sports. Flight in the face of what that evidence out you. Please you know record setting numbers for Thursday night football NFL still Lou ratings leader on TV you know TV ratings were down everywhere obviously. But the fact that they've gone down now what 10% this year 8% the report. NFL older I'm I'm look at it and say in what is going on here it might go to a point you made earlier about you know youth football people Matt. Beaded football as much as they are I think that might have some to do with a the least try to shorten up games you know with rearranging commercial breaks this past year but. I think they've got to do a little more research this offseason like what's gonna while we lost a sexually 18% over television audience. In two year times. I think going to be important to them. I'm a people as his Watson less TV. Yeah that be a thing that is a thing or watching it's definitely a beauty people are out doing different things because watching TV differently you know watching TV differently. The because it's not it's not just the NFL it's ratings all across TV right and TV is changing now so much and you have so much with social media where you can see. Really everything also is media highlights of everything else those immediate. And in people who just watching TV lessor watch and it differently. And so what and ultimately that what's red zone network you know yes as wanna see scored which is wanna see the highlights. You know they they want our a lot of other thoughts about it yet a lot of people watch the red zone if I watch other phones and watch on their phones so. I don't know if you ever stop because the phones it is. The technologies is since they continues to move on and on and on and people are as my generation is coming up in this generation below me as coming up you got more more kids that it just watch and everything on the phones. Watching everything on their tablets and things like that. Leak is pretty good I think the NFL has been pretty good about. Assessing trends stay ahead of the curve. You know how to how to make sure that the ratings are strong but that would get irritated I'm sure it's got their attention and I point 7%. Declined to Super Bowl ratings were down overall around the country should that got their attention in hazard tension. Wouldn't surprise me if that's number one on the at a fellow owners offseason priority was not a bigger what's gonna because that is not in the pocket and again that have a duration over a couple of years and that be a little bit worried about the future you know where the cute were were at points the trip deterrent. And I mean they're a couple of things that we talked about today obviously damp stuff the confessions all of us that goes into our people Watson mess because. I'm I'm tired of seeing people can cost tightest back in the ninety's. And early two thousands I mean yeah you remember the segment on Monday night countdown it was. It was America jacked up yet you know and and people loved and I think people still love the big hits but I think people's prince more at the B it's now they they transit this stuff. Watch this anymore. So only if there's a bunch of there's a of a variety of things that are going on is why people watching less. Football or watching it differently. But I think it's overall TV period. Yeah I agree it's up and I think owners will pay attention to India. In the upcoming offseason he know that trend anyway to pay attention to in the upcoming Nazis. And now we're gonna take a break two Marshall looks pretty good already Bucky Brooks gonna join his former bills receiver. Draft analyst for a and a felt that count Bucky Brooks has a list of teams who he thinks he did nail. The 22 draft yes you're Buffalo Bills around that was. That's coming up on tomorrow's show we're back affordable today the Jabber B show from one bills drive this is Buffalo Bills three. Murphy show. And now what we've learned from that show that's the question whatever we learn from today show it's presented by advance elaborate by Western New York. Homes and businesses with a minuses security home theater deeper all the hormonal Peter rider. The Buffalo Bills Wesley preacher was our premiered yesterday bills defense of coordinator he and his coaching staff the entire bills coaching staff. Went to the buffalo city mission today. And doled out lots special Valentine's Day led to the buffalo city mission Wesley Frazier. Joined us in studio just a little bit ago. He interviewed for the Indianapolis Colts job he said on Saturday this week. But he said he's not just jump but it. Every head coaching opening comes up he says he can afford to be a little bit selective about which jobs interest him here's what he had said. And at this stage in my career in my life. There are some situations. Oh. Potentially signal to visits. Some situations are better than others all 32 teams are not saying in a nose for the fans to see the National Football League and its OK that. So there's you know that it drew book is read this 32 different entities they have their own ways of doing things so. Some situations the better known at this point in my life. In my career. I would have to be careful about saying yes to this vs. You know another situation where you might signal. Which you need to do your homework now. Leslie Frazier and how he views potential head coaching openings around the NFL. Very happy that he stayed here decided to stay here we talked a lot today about the a couple of different things including the NFL's offseason priority list what they need to get done. Between on this lecture tweeted I think ratings are going down because people are sick of seeing the ball lots all over the place. They want to be a passing league but where's all the quarterbacks 32 teams in its five or six greats in about ten that is good the fun watching pats vs bills and about that. I think that the competitive games. Yeah there's definitely competitive games people. People look at the Super Bowl sit ups pregame that there was no defense played you know until the last Stewart sat there but I mean people look at it. The census of Wilson and Els playing games so. Is that really the case I think people I think people like to see us now need to read and Rochester has some thoughts on what we talked about going into the break the declining ratings went 10% this pastor Brett what do you think. They got Brooke about what it detonated a purple sharp man. Well it thank you and think yeah I tried some times when Tara good man but anyway waited and. Gonna go to your faith was open that's right alongside news. Some took what was that sometimes I see what I think. But I releasing melanoma bread thing we hear this now most of the here it is spread achieved regret most of the things I say I say they usually said. As these second. Yet I'll actually said that. I look at the quote good. They've we have a lot of people possibility you're old enough you play popcorn play our schools some college football what football league targeting. It might have may have friends. I grew up with. Everybody watch football but I talked about during the quality in a pot constantly. And I'd seen it firsthand this past year. A lot of my body's in a lot of my my family based stopped watching football entirely. Because of Vietnam. And that didn't help with. The they'll return touchdowns. In a father and I thought they're gonna come back and Intel and yet. They can come back and a lot of them did watch play out. In what Super Bowl and it sucks for the B like mutants stick it up all. You you black people used to talking to the 25 years. About to stop it part of your life. It lets talk about it you know should it. How old is this group you're talking about I'm 49 that. Oh. Mean I think during that and it's been hit in the pit stop what the flags Ghana. And that really you got it got taken out of the game that other than you but people and stop watching but yet something really bother them. Don't let marketing when you're watching the game and the guys are standing there and they got their hands on our. He's seeded tears coming out of bases in the hip implant that's great man it's great Turkey would he be optimistic in any department. Look at that bump people off posited that and there it. They're group of people who were upset about. Anthem protest you know wasn't protesting the actual land them or the flag there people were upset about that. There are also people were upset about talent happening not vehement back in the game so. Yeah there's a good amount of people on both sides it being decided not to watch football but ultimately ratings are down across the board yet or TV. I think has more than just protests symbolism I really do. Our Twitter poll today double something completely different other than offseason priorities for the leak. One of them don't for new. Which position group do you think is the strongest on the buffalo bills' roster and it was pretty overwhelmingly. In one direction defensive back field you'd think 75%. Of you said it's the strongest. Position group on the bills' roster 13% said running back out SEC record 7% at some else in mind. 5% said offensive line strongest position group on the bills' roster so we went through the defensive backfield today. Tomorrow we didn't put like Becker at their but the bills have some interesting decisions to make. And some it's scene evaluations they have to do at linebacker and we will get into that. That's coming up tomorrow we shall also Bucky Brooks on the show tomorrow. Talk about the teams that absolutely. After nearly NFL draft the bills are one of them.
